music and album art ideas

Post 3: music & album art ideas. Jan 17, 2024.

I’m cooking up ideas for the new tunes I’ve got to compose for this album. I’m working at a leisurely pace. After all, I haven’t set a hard release date yet. I just hinted that it would come out sometime this year. And I’m planning to come through with that.

I actually have tons of ideas for riffs, harmonic progressions, drum parts, drum fills, cool arrangement and orchestration… stringing them together coherently is the tough part.

Also, I have a left wrist injury at the moment. It makes it impossible to do… pretty much anything with my left hand/arm, without pain. That includes drumming, playing guitar, playing piano, using a computer, you name it. Hopefully it’ll go away soon. I don’t even remember how I injured my wrist. Felt like I just woke up one day and it hurt.

I’ve thought a little bit about the album art. I’m thinking I might find an artist who does Homestuck drawings whose style I like, commission them for a 1200x1200 px piece of art, pay them handsomely, and credit them in my liner notes. Where would I even find someone like that? Twitter? I know a lot of Homestuck artists are on Twitter. I don’t want to go on Twitter, though. The whole platform irks me. So many of the people on Twitter are always mad, or arguing about something, or just being unpleasant. Or, uh, X.com, I should say. Because that’s what the company’s name is now. But I might have no choice if I want to get someone to draw me some Homestuck art. Twitter, here I come. Shit. I mean X.com.

I could also just set a scene up and photograph it myself for the album cover. My dad had an old pretty decent camera. I looted it out of his closet just recently. I might even prefer doing this. Depends on how I’m feeling.

I’m going to shoot for releasing the first new track on April 13th. We’ll see how progress on the album goes from then on.
